Zabljak is situated in the foothills of the mountain-mass Durmitor, 1450 meters above sea level. The population is 4000 inhabitants, mainly occupied with tourism and production of ecologically pure food.
In winter, the town attracts many lovers of downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding. But Zabljak can be visited not only in winter as tourist season lasts here all year round. In summer you can find here a nice place for relaxation and distressing, caused by tempo of living in large cities.
On the periphery of Zabljak, there is the picturesque Black Lake – the largest of 18 glacial lakes, situated nearby. From here numerous marked trekking paths start. You could begin with the simplest one and walk around the Black Lake – it will take about an hour and a half. Probably, you will soon wish to come to Ice Cave (Ledena Pecina) located under the hill Obla Glava 2100 meters above sea level. There are a lot of routes of vary difficulty and duration up to 56-kilometre “Durmitor Ring” with unforgettable views of mountains and canyons.
All town travel agencies suggest various types of rafting down the Tara and Drina rivers, of duration from some hours till three days. Such activities as mountain bicycles, riding, hiking, various Montenegrin and international sporting competitions, Mountain Flowers Days, hunting, let anyone choose an amusement to his liking, in summer, autumn and spring.
