Kotor GulfThe Kotor Gulf – narrow and long, as a fiord, goes to the seacoast for 20 km. It differs from the Northern fiords by lower banks. The Kotor Gulf looks like an arrow and is formed by for bays.
The "edge" or the arrow is connected with its beginning by the narrow strait Verige. The ferry-line is operating here. This part is also formed by two bays – Risan bay and Kotor bay. This area would be appropriate for those who like calm, measured rest. Cosy Mediterranean little towns, majestic mountains, that surround mirror-like surface – it is the perfect place for relax after crazy rhythm of the modern megapolises. In wintertime Kotor bay is very popular place for training among oarsmen as there are no waves at all. In our database, we place to this region the less populated area of Montenegrin littoral – Southern seaside of the peninsulas Lustica and Grbalj. Here among rocky coasts one can find numerous little solitary beaches, many of them are accessible only from the sea. For those tourists, who have an inquiring mind nature, it would be interesting to visit old fisherman's village Bigovo in the bay of the same name, or fortress island Mamula at the enter of the Gulf, that is situated opposite to the marvellous beach Zanice. |
